Looking back at the 26 years, 10 months, 5 days of my Life

In 58 days im turning 27 years old and during this years i've learned so much. Here are 27 LESSONS, LIFE taught me at 26.

1. Trust is a hard thing to gain back. I have lied to for many times in the past and I have learned how easily it is to lose that trust and how hard it is to gain back.

2. Money isn't everything but it is still something. I came from a middle class family, we were not poor but also not rich. My 2 sisters and i were on college almost at the same time so we had to work our way through college. Money can't buy you love or true happiness, but it can give you choices.

3. Bad things happen to good people. Im not saying that im that good but i've never done something so bad to go through the things i've been through in my life.

4. Life is unfair. There are rich people and there are poor people. Some are born healthy, some are born with defects. Some are lucky, some are so unlucky. This is life, and we cannot change it. Life isn't fair, but it’s still good, we just have to accept it and move on.

5. You don’t always get what you want. I wanted to be a doctor, design clothes, writer perhaps or be a chef, but i never had the oppurtunity to do so. While I’m still working on some of these things, I realize you don’t always get what you want when you want it, even if you work tirelessly on it and have great ambition.

6. Pay off your credit cards every month. Had to learn this the hard way.

7. Changes in life are inevitable. We just have to deal with it. “If we don't change, we don't grow. If we don't grow, we are not really living.”

8. Acting like a child is always fun but we all need to grow up. If you’re not growing in life, you are simply living out your days.

9. Even when you feel like you have nothing, someone else likely has far less. Contentment brings happiness in life, we should all cherish what we already have, instead of wanting more.

10. Life is full of fun if you learn to play with difficulties. Nothing in life comes easy. To be human is to make mistakes.

11. It’s the simple things in life that really made me happy. Looking back the times where i really laughed hard or had the most fun was when i was doing the simplest things.

12. It really is better to give than to receive. I love the feeling of being able to give, whether it be my time, money, attention, or whatever.

13. Karma is digital. I loved this phrase, what goes around, comes aroud. when you helped someone, that help will come back to you.

14. Never change for anybody because someone out there is looking for someone like you.

15. Never regret, if it's good, it's wonderful. If it's bad, it's experience.

16. Hard work will always pay off in the end. I can say that what i am and i have today is because of the hardships I've been through in my life.

17. If you lie, you will get caught. No matter what.

18. We all need help, no matter how strong we are. As the popular saying goes, No man is an island.

19. Destiny is a matter of choice, not chance. Every decision we make will affect our future, i am what i am today because of the choices i made in my life.

20. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone.

21. The person that will make you the happiest, will also make you the saddest.

22. Take lots of pictures. Someday you’ll be really glad you did.

23. Love yourself first. The more you love yourself, the more you will be able to give love to others.

24. Laughter is the best medecine.

25. Stop trying to impress people by being someone you're not because in the end, you'll lose yourself.

26. Enjoy life now. As I look back at my last 26 years of life, there were so many special moments that came and went. I wish I would of sat back and enjoyed the moments more.

27. Experience is the greatest teacher of all. The most important lessons in life can never be expressed in black and white, but must be experienced.

To know that despite the fact that we may make mistakes along the way, when we look back on where we have been, we will be able to see just how far we have come. Our views and beliefs are more developed, our understanding of our purpose is becoming clearer, and overall we are just living today in a better way than we did yesterday.

Advice from Somewhere

  1. Give people more than they expect and do it cheerfully.
  2. Marry a man/woman you love to talk to. As you get older, their conversational skills will be as important as any other.
  3. Don’t believe all you hear, spend all you have or sleep all you want.
  4. When you say, “I love you,” mean it.
  5. When you say, “I’m sorry,” look the person in the eye.
  6. Be engaged at least six months before you get married
  7. Believe in love at first sight.
  8. Never laugh at anyone’s dreams. People who don’t have dreams don’t have much.
  9. Love deeply and passionately. You might get hurt but it’s the only way to live life completely.
  10. In disagreements, fight fairly. Please No name calling.
  11. Don’t judge people by their relatives.
  12. Talk slowly but think quickly.
  13. When someone asks you a question you don’t want to answer, smile and ask, “Why do you want to know?”
  14. Remember that great love and great achievements involve great risk.
  15. Say “bless you” when you hear someone sneeze.
  16. When you lose, don’t lose the lesson.
  17. Remember the three R’s: Respect for self; Respect for others; Responsibility for all your actions.
  18. Don’t let a little dispute injure a great friendship.
  19. When you realize you’ve made a mistake, take immediate steps to correct it.
  20. Smile when picking up the phone. The caller will hear it in your voice.
  21. Spend some time alone.

Being Sun Savvy

When i started blogging i came across Sun Savvy, a group of bloggers committed to promoting better care of the skin, protecting our skin from the sun and promoting awareness on what the sun could do to our skin.

Not everyone is aware that long exposure to the sun is not healthy. Although the sun is a good source of vitamin D, which helps us absorb calcium for stronger, healthier bones. Unprotected exposure to the sun's ultraviolet rays can cause skin damage, eye damage, immune system suppression, and skin cancer. Even people in their twenties can develop skin cancer.*

As a beach lover, my long exposure to the sun is inevitable so i make it a point to always have a sunscreen with me. I love having a tan line especially during summer, also it's the only time of the year that having tanned skin is in. Last month, I signed the sun savvy pledge. I am becoming more aware of the dangers of the sun and taking care to be mindful about protecting myself.

DO your part. Sign the pledge. Spread the word. Most of all, take care of your skin.

Manidad Island, Santa Ana Cagayan

Manidad Island, sometimes called Crocodile Island, is a small rock formation located in Santa Ana, Cagayan. It lies between Palaui Island and Mapurao Island. This small rock island is formed like a sleeping crocodile that disappears during high tide. The island is surrounded by wide coral reefs where aquarium fishes, seaweeds and grasses grow. During low tide, fisherman gathers sea urchins, clams and seaweeds in this area. It takes about five minutes to reach the island from San Vicente Port, Santa Ana Cagayan.

My first trip to Manidad Island was way back 2008. When we were on our way home from Anguib Beach, we stop by this small island and took some photos.

Climbing the top of the rock formation was a little hard but all worth it. The view was great and you can see all the surrounding islands from it.

My second trip to Manidad was yet another stop over from our trek to Palaui Island. Palaui Island is just 5 minutes away from this island.

The weather looked great during our second visit but Santa Ana was actually under Storm Signal #2 so we didn't stay long, just took some photos.

If you need information on how to visit this island, you can check out Santa Ana Cagayan's facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/santaana.cagayan.

Letting Go and Moving Forward

"People were created to be loved. Things were created to be used. The reason why the world is in chaos, is because things are being loved, and people are being used."

It’s easy to say “Just let go, move forward, forget about it, just let go.” But to actually do it is not easy. Yes, i know that moving on is part of life but knowing how to let go of someone you love is tough, especially when they've been part of your life for so long.

Moving on i know it's hard, but it's going to be ok. No regrets.

Below is a collection of Filipino Cheesy Pick Up Lines inspired by the movie "My Amnesia Girl".

If you have additional cheesy/corny pick up lines, feel free to comment it below..
